Life Changer: TD Bank's Bob Kolb
For several years TD Bank, one of the largest banks in the United States, has been a sponsor of Amos House’s annual golf tournament. Earlier this year, the bank recognized Amos House as one of its community partners. Last month, the bank showed further support by helping Amos House expand our board of directors. Its newest member is Robert Kolb, Market President of TD Bank in Rhode Island.
“Before I even visited Amos House, I heard their clients speak at their golf tournament dinner,” Robert, also known as “Bob,” said. “The stories that came from each of the individuals were moving. Several weeks later, I came out to visit. I was not only impressed by Eileen, her staff and what people there are doing, I was also inspired!”
As a board member, Bob hopes to contribute skill sets acquired from 30 years in banking, particularly financial expertise to help Amos House achieve its goals. He entered commercial banking after graduating from the University of South Carolina. Eventually, he became the Market President for TD Bank in Massachusetts. When the bank decided to open its first branch in Providence, Bob was well acquainted with the Ocean State where he, his wife and daughter have enjoyed a summer home. Bob looks forward to the bank’s involvement in Providence, including its partnership with Amos House.
“Part of our brand is not just providing loans and helping people with deposits, but also being active in the communities where we have a presence,” he explained. “It helps us to be associated with agencies like Amos House that are doing great work. We’re about being part of the community.”
At a February ribbon-cutting ceremony for the bank’s first office in Providence, on Westminster Street, TD Bank presented Amos House with a check for $2,500. The award was to recognize our agency’s work in Providence and surrounding areas.
Bob shared: “I’ve been a member of many different boards, but the difference this time is from a personal, not just banking, perspective. We see so much homelessness and poverty around. If there’s something I can do to help, that will bring personal satisfaction.”
In addition to its new Providence office, TD Bank has branches in other Rhode Island communities. They include Barrington, East Providence and Johnston.
