Meridian Printing: Our Partner in Philanthropy
Six years ago Robert Nangle, President and Owner of Meridian Printing, set out to find a local organization that his business could support. After touring Amos House and interacting with our staff, he decided that he did not have to look much further. Since then Meridian Printing, a $12 million business based in East Greenwich, has supported Amos House in invaluable ways. On November 23rd our agency honored “Bob” and Meridian Printing as our Partner in Philanthropy at a National Philanthropy Day awards ceremony.
“Bob is one of the most generous donors we’ve ever come across. He anticipates our needs long before we ask,” said Eileen Hayes, Amos House President and CEO. “We are grateful to him and Meridian Printing for their generosity over the years and we’re proud to honor them as our Partner in Philanthropy.”
The annual event is sponsored by the Association of Fundraising Professionals Rhode Island to recognize corporations, small businesses, individuals and groups that have advanced nonprofits through their generosity, leadership and volunteer contributions. In the past six years Meridian Printing has made financial donations to Amos House, participated in our annual golf tournament, and donated or discounted numerous high-quality printed items. Most recently, the company printed materials for our “20 for 20” campaign, charging half price for over 34,000 mailers and hundreds of posters.
“I believe that in everyone’s life, you have highs and lows. Most people can handle the highs but many have a difficult time with the lows,” said Bob. “I like the fact that Amos House will help to give people the skills they need to get back on their feet and to succeed. I like that they ‘teach a man to fish versus give the man a fish.’”
Bob, a native of Smithfield and graduate of the University of Rhode Island, joined Meridian Printing in 1997. After serving as Vice President of Finance for two years, he was promoted to President. The award-winning company serves national and international corporations, small businesses, publishers and museums in Rhode Island and across the United States. Still, it is not uncommon for Bob to stop by Amos House to personally deliver the print jobs his company prepares for our agency.
“It makes me feel good that I play a very small part in some of the successes that Amos House has. Many of our employees also feel the same way,” he said.
