Amos House Launches Bristol Harbor Homemade handcrafted baking mixes

Bristol Harbor Founder Cindy Elder at Amos House's product launchAmos House honored Bristol Harbor Homemade founder, Cindy Elder, for her generosity in support of our programs at a launch party on November 8th. Ms Elder donated her successful artisanal baking mix company to Amos House and spent the past year teaching our team her time-tested recipes and production methods. Special guests included representatives of Whole Foods, where the mixes will be on sale beginning this month, and Cindy's mother, of our favorite mix "Mom's Applecrisp." Look for Bristol Harbor Homemade mixes on sale at selected Whole Foods, Kate & Co., Blount Fine Foods and through Dave's Marketplace Gift Baskets, as well as at Friendship Café.

Amos House Celebrates Graduation of 13th ACT class

On November 8th, the Amos Carpentry Training program graduated it's 13th class. The seven proud graduates were joined by their families and friends at a celebration that included an address by Michelle Davidson, a new mother of twins, for whom the ACT class built a new deck as part of their hands-on practicum. Congratulations, graduates Kuadio Boga, Keith Branch, Rafael Clemente, Juan Huertas, Anthony Leigh, Justin Puzzana and Hashan Wafi. ACT prepares semi-skilled and unemployed adults for jobs as carpenters in the construction field. Graduates receive life-long OSHA 10 certification and are listed in a national database of carpentry professionals. To date, 150 men and women have graduated from the program.
