First Families Move into Mother Child Reunification Center

This summer three families moved into Amos House’s Mother Child Reunification Center. The Center provides permanent supportive housing and an array of services to women seeking to reconnect with their children after a period of separation due to substance abuse issues, incarceration, or a financial crisis. Through our program mothers receive tools to be responsible and loving parents such as parenting classes, mentoring, counseling and financial support. Their children benefit from educational opportunities, social activities, and a safe, comfortable, supportive family environment. Our Center will serve up to 13 mothers and their dependent children under age 12. For more information call 401-270-7474.

Friendship Café Voted “Best of Rhode Island”

Our Friendship Café showed up in Rhode Island Monthly’s “Best of Rhode Island” 2010 edition in August. The magazine’s editors named it “Best Café With A Cause” for its training opportunities for our culinary students and use of locally sourced ingredients. Also noted were the café’s carefully prepared meals and stay-awhile atmosphere, including free Wi-Fi.
