Amos Carpentry Training (ACT)

More than a meal, Amos House is a second chance.  To learn a new trade and enter a fertile job industry.  Our Carpentry Program trains people who are semi-skilled and at-risk for jobs as carpenters in the construction field.  Launched in 2007, this 13-week program combines classroom and practical hands-on experiences developed by the National Center for Construction Education and Research.

An ACT graduate will:

• Demonstrate skill and knowledge in areas from basic safety, hand and power tools and blueprints to wood building materials, floor systems, wall and ceiling framing, roof framing, and more.
• Receive life-long OSHA 10 certification
• Understand lead-safe handling procedures
  
• Be listed in a national database of carpentry professionals

ACT students can access case management and social services at Amos House while building their skills.  People reintegrating back into society are given priority when it comes to enrollment.  This program is just one more way that Amos House is helping people help themselves.
