Good Samaritan Project

Smiling Family

The Good Samaritan Project is a partnership between Amos House and congregations in the Providence area. Churches, mosques and synagogues are involved.  Launched in March 2007, the project pairs homeless families with faith-based communities to help them access housing, employment, educational opportunities, child care, financial assistance, transportation, mentoring help and community support.  The families also receive advocacy help as needed with the Department of Children, Youth and Families (DCYF) and legal institutions. Mentoring and hospitality are the cornerstone of this program.

Typically we choose participants from our housing program or they are Amos House guests residing in unaffordable open market apartments. The goal is to help families secure various services they need to get back on their feet and move toward long-term stability.
