Amos Culinary Education (ACE)
More than a meal, Amos House is opportunity. And a suddenly bright future. Amos House runs the ACE culinary arts training program, helping poor and unskilled individuals and those at risk of homelessness secure the skills they need to become more stable and self-reliant.
Since 2002, this 12-week training program has provided 200 men and women with culinary skills and, in turn, jobs in the food service industry. Because so many ACE participants face significant barriers to employment, they also receive case management and social services throughout the program.
An ACE graduate is:
- Trained in food safety, food preparation and handling, restaurant management, food pricing, menu selection and customer service
- ServSafe Certified, with national certification in the safe handling of foods
- Certified in CPR and First Aid
- Experienced, with real-world restaurant training
- Confident, knowing that he or she will receive job placement assistance
The ACE program is a living example of how Amos House is helping people help themselves, and how we are so much more than a meal.
