Greetings From the Executive Director

Eileen Hayes

Dear Friends:

I am so excited to write this letter to introduce you to our new website. As someone who resisted the Internet for so many years it is amazing to me what a remarkable form of communication the web can be. I hope that we have accomplished our goal of communicating to you the tremendous work we do here at Amos House. Above all, Amos House is a community. It is a community of people who are at the end of their rope but have found the will to hold on and fight for their lives. For some, that means making it here everyday to receive a hot meal in our dining hall. For others, it means starting the long journey from addiction to a life of dignity and respect through our intensive treatment program. Regardless of the reason, men, women and children come to Amos House because the word on the street is that we care and we will help. Our staff, many of whom are former guests, will go the extra mile to make a difference in someone’s life.

Amos House has the good fortune of having a donor base of over 14,000 individuals. People give to Amos House because they believe that their money will make a direct impact. It is hard to deny that every human being, regardless of race, religion, or gender needs food, shelter, and clothing. Amos House provides these basic human needs and, more importantly, asks people to make a commitment to change. We believe that each of us has a purpose in life and our goal is to help people identify their purpose and to put this into action through service to others. I remember as a child my mother always said, “There but the grace of God I go.” These words have stayed with me all of my life. I hope they move you to reach your hand out to help Amos House help others.

Thank you!

Eileen Hayes
