Newlyweds Applaud More Than a Meal
Erik and Carly knew the type of wedding reception they wanted – a family atmosphere with a backyard barbecue feel. But their once-in-a-life-time event also had to be upscale and cost effective. So the Baumanns chose an elegant bungalow at a historic farm as the venue and More Than a Meal as their caterer.
“More Than a Meal helped us put together the vision we wanted and did it brilliantly,” said Carly, 29. Our catering business prepared hors d’oeuvres, dinner and dessert, managed rentals and arranged bar service for the event. It also served as the liaison between the couple and site manager, Kinney Bungalow at Sunset Farm in Narragansett.
On August 21st over a hundred guests enjoyed the wedding dinner of steamers, BBQ chicken, corn on the cob, and roasted red bliss potatoes. They also savored steamed lobster, split for easy dining.
The food was phenomenal!” shared Erik, 31. “I must have gotten ten to fifteen comments about how good it was.”
Erik and Carly met online nearly four years ago. He works on grants and teaches at Bristol Community College. She is an exhibit and program developer at Providence Children’s Museum. Carly first heard about More Than a Meal through her work in the nonprofit sector. The couple considered six caterers for their wedding reception. They chose More Than a Meal for its competitive pricing and additional benefits.
“We really wanted to feel good about where every dollar was going,” Carly explained. “We really felt good about the mission of Amos House.”
Profits from More Than Meal support the Amos Culinary Education Program, which prepares low skilled adults for national certification and jobs in the food service industry. The seven servers and kitchen assistants at the Baumann’s reception are graduates of the program who work at More Than a Meal under our executive chef.
“They really took the time to hear what we wanted and gave us what we wanted,” Erik said. ”The service was great,” Carly added. “I’m grateful to everyone we worked with at More Than a Meal.”
